The Leith Agency has announced the launch of a new experiential and promotional arm, Marvel, as the agency also scoops the First Scotrail account.

Marvel will service existing Cello (of which Leith is a part) clients, while also operating as a standalone business within the group.

It has been set up to make the most of the knowledge of Claire Kinloch, who joined The Leith Agency from Bd Ntwk last August as head of promotional marketing.

Supporting Kinloch in leading the team will be Steve Simpson, previously associate director of The Marketing Store, Sydney and KLP EuroRSCG.

Simpson joins as project and planning director, while Vicky Hope, previously director of Tequila\London, comes in as project director.

The team already has a client list in place which is expected to generate in excess of £1million this year.

The new agency has business lined up with the likes of the Scottish Executive, Skinny Cow Ice Cream, Fruit Crunch Ice Cream, Nambarrie Tea and Henry Boot Developments.

John Rowley, chairman of Leith, said: “Marvel offers creative marketing talent, commercial insight and strategic planning from a senior team who are the best in their field.”

Meanwhile The Leith Agency has won First Scotrail’s full service business account in a four way pitch.

As revealed in the last issue of The Drum, The Leith Agency pitched against Newhaven, 1576 and Golley Slater to deliver the company’s marketing activity.

Peter Williams, commercial director for First Scotrail, commented on the appointment: “It was critical for us to find an agency partner with commercial insight, strategic planning and creative marketing talent to assist our drive to meet business objectives.”

Williams added: “The Leith Agency team demonstrated a natural flair in these areas, and we are delighted to be working with them.”

The first work on the account is expected to appear in the spring.

Last year The Leith Agency, started to expand launching a digital service agency, Blonde, and a PR agency, Stripe, headed up by Pete Burns and Juliet Simpson respectively.
