Glasgow-based design agency D8 has produced the new brand identity guidelines for ScottishPower.

The agency worked in conjunction with ScottishPower’s other retained agencies, Newhaven and Navigator, to create the guidelines, which were produced over a

six-month period.

The brand guide covers the new illustrative and photographic approaches, use of typography, colour and tone of voice, as well as the use of The Appliances, new characters from Newhaven’s current above and below-the-line advertising campaign.

D8 also commissioned and art directed photographer Reuben Paris to shoot two photographic libraries for the new brand microsite, which the agency has developed for staff and agency use.

ScottishPower’s Lisa Allan said: “Our creative agencies took a common sense approach to the new brand guidelines and the results are fantastic.

“We’ve been very impressed with the strategic and creative insight shown by everyone involved in the project and we’re convinced that the new guidelines will ensure additional flexibility and consistency across all our communications.”

Adrian Carroll, creative director at D8, said: “ScottishPower really wanted us to take an integrated agency approach so that we could have a more in-depth understanding of how the guidelines could be implemented across all mediums, including DM and advertising.

“Working closely with Newhaven and Navigator was a great experience for us. As well as both of them being easy to get along with, it gave us a real insight into how two highly respected agencies work, and I think we’d all agree the end product was better as a result.”
