October Films has announced its expansion to Manchester with the launch of October North.

The new operation, which will be headed up by former BBC Manchester executive producer Emma Worthington, will specialise in popular, factual and current affairs programmes.

Worthington has 14 years experience as a producer, director and executive producer, working at Granada Television for four years before moving onto BBC Manchester where she worked for a decade. Her responsibilities will include increasing the company’s output of programming, with a heavy focus on pre-watershed.

October Films MD Denman Rooke, said: “Manchester is renowned as a creative hub within the broadcast industry and was the natural choice for the expansion of October Films. Combined with this, Emma has a proven track record in delivering popular factual content. She also has strong contacts with local talent, enabling her to create fresh programmes and innovative formats.”
