Welsh Beef and Lamb has launched a new £750,000 TV campaign, created by Golley Slater in Cardiff. The 30 second commercials are set to air on ITV1, Channel 4 and S4C this month.

The campaign will go head to head against the \'Beefy and Lamby\' TV ads for Quality Standard Mark for English Beef and Lamb, which feature the voices of former English cricketers, Ian Botham and Allan Lamb.

\"Welsh lamb and Welsh beef is renowned for its quality,\" said a Golley Slater spokesperson. \"We felt a more up market execution was appropriate as opposed to a personality campaign that perhaps distracts from the actual meat.\"

Meanwhile, Golley Slater has been appointed by ACE Study Tours to create a campaign that will increase its market share in the traditional 50-plus market and promote cultural tourism to a younger audience.

It is estimated over half the UK population will be over 50 by 2015.
