Three senior designers at The Chase are leaving the company and are believed to have plans to set up a new consultancy.

Stuart Price and Chris Jeffreys, along with another designer, are currently working a period of notice with the agency, which will come to an end in November.

The speculation come amid rumours of further resignations at the Manchester agency.

At the time of going to press, neither Price or Jeffreys was unavailable for comment. However, industry speculation is that that the creative team plan to set up their own design agency in Manchester soon after leaving the company.

Price has been at The Chase for two years, having joined from Manchester-based True North in 2004. Jeffreys, who was Price’s creative partner while at True North, made the same move across town earlier this year. The third designer believed to be joining them, has not been identified.

Peter Richardson, a creative director at The Chase, refused to discuss details of the changes, but confirmed that the imminent parting was “amicable”.

Both Price and Jeffreys were present at The Roses Design Awards this month, having been nominated in a number of categories for work done while at The Chase. The agency won two Golds, a Silver and a Bronze at the event, as well as landing the Chairman’s Award for its work for Manchester Dogs’ Home.

A close industry source, commented: “This will probably be a big blow for The Chase. Stuart Price has won numerous awards in his career and is a major name in the Manchester design scene. The talk is that he and his creative partner, along with another designer from The Chase, will be setting up their own agency very soon. Any such venture will be well-worth keeping an eye on in the future.”

Earlier this year, The Chase was bought by Hasgrove, the integrated communications group that also owns the Connectpoint group of businesses.

Ben Casey, co-founder of The Chase was unavailable for comment as The Drum went to press.
