Family has hired Naomi Askins, a former account director from Barkers, to be a group account director.

Askins is the latest high-profile recruit to the agency, which has recently made two junior members of staff redundant as it looks to restructure the agency’s offering.

Earlier this month, Family set up a digital division and hired David Westwood as a digital account director from DDB Canada.

Ian Wright, managing director of family, said the appointments reflected what clients wanted.

“We’re changing the make up of the agency to reflect clients’ needs,” he said. “Family hasn’t been an advertising agency for the last three years. That’s why we’ve got into design and digital. We’re trying to marry up with what clients want.”

Family has also won a charity brief from the Scottish International Development Agency, following a three way pitch.

The agency’s brief is to create a campaign which will generate nearly half a million pounds worth of funding to help thousands of people in developing countries.
