EventScotland, the national organisation for sporting and cultural events in Scotland, has hired digital design agency, Lightershade, to re-design its website to position the country as one of the world's foremost event destinations up to and beyond 2015.

EventScotland has invested in more than 190 events since its inception in 2003, including the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, Edinburgh's International Festival and the Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art.

It has created a central focus in leading the drive to secure major events for Scotland by working in partnership with local government, Scottish governing bodies of sport, culture and national agencies.

EventScotland is currently working on a number of high profile long term projects including Scotland’s bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup 2014.

Richard Lee-Smith, creative director at Lightershade, said: “International events help to position Scotland as a dynamic country in which to invest, live and work. It is critical that we present the EventScotland website in that way.”
