Guy Robertson Partnership has hired former Adpartners managing director, Colin Murchie to head up its new business development.

Murchie – who was at Adpartners for eight years – joins as business development director on 7 August. Prior to Adpartners, he was client services director for Grey Scotland.

The agency has also bolstered its place on the Toyota roster, picking up the online and offline account for Toyota Approved Used Cars.

The Toyota business was won in a competitive pitch against Saatchi & Saatchi in London. GRP has worked with Toyota for ten years.

Scottish tourist attraction, The Falkirk Wheel, has also handed the agency its design work, following a successful radio campaign last year.

“It is always a great boost to win business over established London agencies,” said Guy Robertson, founding partner of GRP. “2006 has been a fantastic year for GRP. We have introduced a new planning and knowledge management function and we acquired web design company, Biscuitmedia, ensuring we are constantly developing to offer more to new and existing clients.”

In June, GRP announced it had formed an alliance called Triola with two international agencies. The allliance – which has a combined billing of £18.5 million – involves Enten Associates in Washington, USA and H&H Advertising in Reykjavik, Iceland.

GRP staff will embark on an exchange program with the two agencies.
