The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the North West has confirmed the appointment of Conker PR, the newly formed Manchester PR consultancy, to handle media relations for its branches in Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.

The one-year contract will require Conker to boost the general profile of the branches and increase the awareness of forthcoming events.

Conker was formed in June by Matt Neary, formerly of Tangerine PR and Media Square PLC. Commenting on the appointment, Diane Clare, regional director of CIM North of England, said: “Finding a new PR company to work with is always a hard task but we were impressed by Conker’s enthusiasm and drive. It’s essential for us, as an organisation, to be constantly communicating with our members and the wider business community. We have so much going on throughout the region and therefore need an agency with first class contacts that is also able to think outside the box.”

Neary added: “As a new business, we’re delighted to have been appointed by the CIM. The Institute is a fantastic client to be working with - both in terms of profile and reputation. It commands real respect amongst marketers in the region, so it will be Conker’s job to build on this and get the message out there in an informative and relevant way.”

Conker has also scored contracts with Italian restaurant chain felicini, property company Emerging Real Estate and Sheffield ad agency Front.
