SMG look set to save £2m a year following the slashing of their annual analogue license fee for Virgin Radio.

The radio station has been told by Ofcom that now only have to pay

£100,000 every year, instead of the current £1.2m. When the

station’s license expires in 2008, SMG will also no longer have to pay

the national advertising sponsorship revenue to the government. The

company currently pays 12% of its revenue.
