Space, a London-based marketing agency, has announced plans to open a new office in Bristol after scooping the £2.7million contract to market the South West England Regional Development Agency (SWERDA) and South West Tourism.

The agency, which is headquartered in Fulham, has outlined plans to develop the Bristol office into a new \"hub\" and not just as a location from which to support the SWERDA account.

David Atkinson, founding partner of Space, explained: \"We are very excited about the prospects of developing a hub away from the perceived heartbeat of London.

\"We don’t subscribe to the view that so-called regional agencies play second fiddle to London agencies such as Space. When our clients are based all over the country, the necessity to be located in Soho, with its ludicrous operating costs, is an outdated perception.\"

Space already works with Devon-based Wrigley’s and is expected to chase new business that can be handled from the Bristol office.

Atkinson continued: \"Our decision to open a new office has been welcomed not just by our clients in the area, but has been seen as an evolution which has introduced new staff, new influences and a new business pipeline which will benefit the whole Space team and our long term clients.\"

With regards to new business opportunities, he went on to state that he believed the agency’s plans would \"appeal to the hordes who are looking to escape the West End sweatshop mentality that curbs many of our competitors.\"

Space’s work for SWERDA will require the agency to drive enquiries from CEOs and directors that might consider relocating or investing in the South West.
