Hasgrove, the holding company that incorporates the Connectpoint group of businesses, has announced its second acquisition in as many months. Interel, the Brussels-based PR and public affairs firm, has followed The Chase in becoming part of the fledgling Hasgrove group.

As well as its headquarters in Belgium, Interel also has offices in Paris and Prague as well as affiliate relationships in major European cities. It is hoped this offering will allow existing Hasgrove businesses to expand beyond the UK. The holding company has also confirmed plans for further acquisitions, of what it describes as ‘best of breed’ companies.

\"This is excellent news,\" commented Hasgrove chairman Godfrey Taylor. \"We now stand by to support an ambitious growth plan which has been developed by Interel’s outstanding management and staff.\"

He also described the deal as \"fulfilling our plans to create a communications group across Europe which stands for excellence, quality and, for our clients, impact.\"

Interel announced a new management team earlier in the year, all of which continue to handle the day-to-day running of the business.

Joining the Hasgrove board will be Interel chief executive Fredrik Lofthagen and chairman Jean-Leopold Schuybroek. Commenting on the new venture, Schuybroek said: \"We first came into contact in 2004 and we quickly realised that their ambitions could match our own and approved of their enlightened approach.

\"Hasgrove has demonstrated in a short period that it has the expertise and financial know-how to develop in a sustainable way while giving tremendous support to both its brands and their management teams.\"

As Adline reported last month Hasgrove recently purchased The Chase, the Manchester and London-based design agency.
