BJL has confirmed that it is on the hunt for a new creative director following the departure of Ray Barrett after only a year at the helm.

Barrett is understood to have left BJL for personal reasons. Prior to joining, Barrett ran agency Barrett Cernis, working on brands including Britvic and Metro Newspapers.

The agency is currently using the creative head structure that it has in place. However, partner Nicky Unsworth confirmed that it is on the lookout for a replacement.

She commented: \"It wasn’t something that we were surprised about when Ray told us that he wanted to leave as I think that the weekly commuting from London had become a bit too much for him.

\"We are on the look-out for a new creative director, however the four creative heads that we currently have in place are very strong, so it isn’t something that we are worried about. I am sure we will be talking to people in the near future.\"

Barrett, however, will remain involved in the creative scene of Manchester, as he is currently a member of the fledgling D&AD North West committee that was launched earlier this year.
