Eight agencies are in the running to redesign the iconic labels of the Barr Soft Drinks range, after following an eight-way competitive pitch between some of Scotland’s top design teams.

The eight agencies - all Scottish, and thought to include Navyblue, 999, Tayburn, Stand and 3 Brand Design - pitched to redesign the Barrs labels with a brief to “refresh and revive” the current packaging for its range of products.

Martin Steele, brand manager of Barr Soft Drinks, said of the pitch: “The Barrs’ image is a fundamental part of life in Scotland, and we wanted a Scottish agency that would have a good understanding of the brand.

“Barr decided to invite the top creative agencies in Scotland to compete for this work, and we wanted to cast our nets as far and as wide as possible in order to do so.”

Steele went on to say that the budget for the new design will be in five figures for one piece of work, which Barr hopes will hit shelves in the Autumn this year.

Barr should make the decision on the winner within the next couple of weeks.
