Ten leading voices in international design – including the founders of both the St Etienne and Lisbon Design Biennale – convened for an international Think Tank at The Lighthouse in Glasgow to discuss Scotland’s Six Cities Design Festival, which is planned for next year.

The meeting was conceived to plug Scotland’s Design festival into the international network of leading design organisations and to bring a global perspective to the initiative.

The launch of the Festival was announced in 2005, with the aim of building on the existing profile of Scotland’s creative industries at home and abroad.

The ten members of the Think Tank were Josyane FRANC founder, St Etienne Biennale; Martine Fontanilles, St Etienne municipalité; Guta Moura Guedes, founder, Experimenta Design; Harri Koskinen, head of Friends of Industry, Helsinki; Marie Josée Lacroix, design commissioner, City of Montreal; Ron Packman, director Packman Lucas, London; Zoe Ryan, senior curator, Van Alen Institute New York; Jonathan Sands of Elmwood; Johan Valcke director, Design Flanders; and David Zahle architect, PLOT, Copenhagen.
