Edinburgh based PR company KD Media are set to announce David Whitton as their new associate director.

Whitton who formerly worked as press advisor to the late first minister, Donald Dewar joins the agency as director; as current director Kirsten Speirs goes on maternity leave.

Whitton will work alongside the Edinburgh team until the end of the year, while advising many of the clients on corporate PR and media relations.

Kirsten Speirs said of the appointment: “I wanted to find an experienced, reputable PR operator and couldn’t think of anyone better than David.”

This will be the second time that Whitton and Spiers have worked together, following their time together at Media House in 1998.

David Whitton commented: “When Kirsten approached me and asked if I could help out I was only too delighted to accept. I’m looking forward to working on a number of interesting accounts with the rest of the KD Media team.”

KD Media was founded by Speirs (nee Dalgetty) in 2001 and has represented such clients as visitscotland.com, Applecross Properties and the Town House Company hotels.

The agency recently won a series of PR pitches including Montpeliers’ new Edinburgh venue in George Street and the Royal College of Surgeons.
