CIDS (Creative Industries Development Service), the organisation that works to assist new and established creative businesses in and around Manchester, has become part of the Manchester Enterprises Group of companies and a subsidiary of the Chamberlink.

A new CIDS company is currently being formed, which will see Kate Drewett of Moonfish chairing the board of directors.

CIDS’ Lyn Barbour stated that the changes would \"position CIDS to influence how investment in the sector is directed and to work with Manchester Enterprises, the BBC and others to make sure that these opportunities are realised.\"

The announcement coincides with confirmation that a series of activities, supported by European funding, have now ended. While \"a few redundancies\" have been made as a result, Barbour insists that an action plan established last year would be the \"framework for identifying more sustainable mainstream support\".
