Radio Forth has joined forces with two of Scotland’s police forces in an effort to help cut down crime in the Edinburgh area.

The company’s two stations, Forth One and Forth2, have started broadcasting weekly bulletins providing advice to listeners on personal safety, safer drinking and improving the security of their home as well as how to report suspicious incidents to the police.

The tips, which will be read by Forth presenters, have been compiled by officers from the Lothian and Borders Police and the Fife Constabulary. Beginning last week, they will be broadcast every Thursday on eight separate shows across the two stations.

Forth programme controller Luke McCullough explained: “We hope to provide a useful and effective platform for the police to issue advice and reminders on how to avoid falling victim to crime and in the process make Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife a safer place to live and work.”
