The Sunday Herald has announced that it will publish in a new compact format from this Sunday (November 20th).

The compact paper will consist of five sections: news, sport, business and recruitment, Seven Days and the Sunday Herald magazine, as well as including the monthly Fresh magazine, targeted at younger readers.

The new format is backed by an advertising campaign, which was created by Clayton Graham Communications and broke on TV, radio, press and outdoor on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by the paper, editor Richard Walker said: “I believe that the compact format will make our award-winning journalism even more accessible.”

Responding to the announcement Stuart Bell, director of Feather Brooksbank, told The Drum: “ I think it’s been on the cards for a while. Every newspaper proprietor has been weighing up the advantages of going compact, and of course the other publishers who have gone down that route have found it to be very successful.
