Real Radio romps home in latest rajar figures

Real Radio has continued to add more listeners as it consolidates its position as Scotland’s largest commercial radio station.

According to the latest Rajar audience figures the station now has 693, 000 listeners each week, an increase of 44, 000 listeners from the last Rajar results.

Meanwhile Radio Clyde continues to hold its position as the biggest commercial radio company in the West of Scotland. However the company, comprising Clyde 1 and Clyde 2, has suffered a drop in audience figures. While Clyde 1 added 14, 000 new listeners Clyde 2 has lost 44, 000.

However sister group Radio Forth has a strong showing in the recent figures, with both Forth One and Forth Two adding listeners in the second quarter of the year. Radio Forth now has 377, 000 listeners with a market share of 18.9%.

Elsewhere in the SRH stable Radio Tay has held steady with 175, 000 listeners a week, while Northsound has suffered a slight dip of 2, 000 listeners. Moray Firth has lost 1, 000 listeners since the first quarter figures with Radio Borders dipping by 2, 000 listeners to 58, 000 listeners a week.

Glasgow’s Beat 106 has added 26, 000 listeners, bringing its total audience to 390, 000 listeners, while Saga 105.2 has recorded 182, 000 listeners, down from 183, 000.

Elsewhere Kingdom FM has lost 2, 000 listeners, bringing its weekly figure to 88, 000.

Central FM has dipped by 4, 000 listeners to 48, 000 and River FM has recorded 17, 000 listeners.

Q96 has boosted its audience by 15, 000 listeners each week, with 57, 000 listeners now tuning into the station, while fellow Wireless Group station Wave 102 has dipped by 2, 000 listeners to 26, 000.
