Chief executive of Tequila\\Manchester, Grant Mercer, has left the company and will move to London after complaining about the lack of ‘opportunity’ in the North West media and marketing scene.

Mercer announced that he would be leaving the agency at the end of last month, 12 months after managing the merger of MKP with the TBWA group.

Former managing director of the aforementioned direct marketing agency MKP, Mercer was appointed chief executive of Tequila\\Manchester when the agencies merged last year. It is understood that Mercer gave his notice in January, working a further six months.

Speaking to Adline about his departure, Mercer commented that he would now leave the Manchester media scene to look for new opportunities in London. He commented: “Having been the chief executive at Tequila, and then prior to that having been the youngest board member at JWT, I just have got to the stage where I think that this market really does not hold any opportunity for me now.

“So, while I will still live in the Manchester area, I am planning on making the move down to London”

He added: “I have enjoyed my time working in Manchester for the three best regional agencies in the country, however, I feel that I have achieved all that I set out to and look forward to pursuing new opportunities within or outside the advertising industry.”
