MK Communications has been appointed to create and develop a global brand strategy for Sheffield FC, the world’s oldest football club. The small club aims to take an ambassadorial team around the world promoting the Corinthian values of football – fair play and equality – by the time it reaches its 150th anniversary in 2007.

MK will launch a global membership scheme, revamp the club’s website and develop brand and content opportunities across TV, radio, film, books and computer games.

England head coach Sven Goran Eriksson, FIFA president Sepp Blatter and England cricket captain Michael Vaughan have already signed up as members.

Discussing the appointment of MK, Sheffield FC chairman Richard Tims, said: \"We had the vision and we knew there was a story to tell, but we weren\'t quite sure how to go about it. MK has given us the impetus to take this thing onto the next level. We\'re the oldest brand in the world\'s greatest sport and it\'s time everyone knew about us.\"
