Rees Bradley Hepburn is understood to have been appointed by Bristol Alliance to provide marketing support for Broadmead – the central area of the city – as it undergoes a £500million regeneration. Details emerged following the completion of a six-way pitch for the account, which featured agencies from London and Bristol.

RBH will initially undertake a rebrand for the development, believed to be worth £250,000, before developing ongoing marketing campaigns for ahead of, and beyond, the reopening of the Broadmead shopping centre, in 2008. Although details have not been confirmed, TV and outdoor advertising are anticipated to feature.

The appointment consolidates RBH’s relationship with the companies behind Bristol Alliance. Land Securities Group plc and Hammerson plc formed two-thirds of the Birmingham Alliance, which appointed RBH in 2003 to look after all marketing and advertising for its Bullring shopping centre. The two firms also appointed RBH last year to work on marketing the revamped Union Square retail centre in Aberdeen.

In June 2004, Land Securities and Hammerson acquired Morely Fund Management’s one-third interest in the Bristol Alliance, making it a 50:50 venture between the two firms. The scheme aims to provide new retail outlets, cafes, bars, restaurants, residential apartments and public spaces in the heart of Bristol.

At the time of going to press, RBH refused to comment on the speculation but did, however, confirm another addition to its client list. Luxury lingerie specialist, Eveden has appointed the agency to work across its three major brands, Rigby & Peller, Freya and Fantasie, as part of a six-figure brief.

RBH has been tasked with injecting fresh and innovative creativity that will help push the brands forward. The account was previously handled in-house.
