Award winning work by BCLO

Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) is understood to have retained Bristol-based agency BCLO to handle a chunk of its marketing business following the completion of a review process. An industry insider has revealed that the seven-figure contract will last until 2008.

BCLO was first appointed by WRAP in February 2004 to manage an ad, PR and marketing campaign to promote home composting. The initial appointment was made to coincide with home composting bins being made available by local authorities. While full details have not been released, it is this account that BCLO is believed to have retained.

The account is expected to revolve heavily around outdoor and a regional press advertising push, as well as door drops. In 2004, the agency won a number of Cream awards for its campaign for WRAP.

BCLO declined to comment on the speculation, while head of communications at WRAP, Julie Parry, was unavailable to discuss the appointment.

WRAP was established in 2001 in response to the UK government’s Waste Strategy 2000 to promote sustainable waste management. It is a not-for-profit organisation. The review is not thought to have affected WRAP’s media buying supplier, Mediaedge:cia Manchester.
