Scottish Magazine Awards 2004 shortlist revealed

The nominations for the second Scottish Magazine Awards 2004 has been announced with The Drum and its sister-titles Prospect and The Firm nominated in a host of categories.

The Drum’s website is shortlisted in the Best Online Presence Category and the off-line magazine is nominated for Best Magazine Design.

Prospect, the architectural magazine, is nominated as Business & Professional Magazine of the Year, while its editor Penny Lewis is nominated as Business & Professional Editor of the Year, alongside Richard Draycott, editor of The Firm, Alasdair Northrop of Scottish Business Insider, Antony Begley of Scottish Local Retailer and Peter Nicholson of The Journal of the Law Society of Scotland.

The judging panel for the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) Awards was chaired by Christopher Ward, vice chairman and co-founder of Redwood Publishing, and included Giles Brooksbank of Feather Brooksbank, Martin Clarkson of Rapid Seven Entertainment, Simon Esterton of Esterton Associates, Elsa McAlonan of Woman’s Own, PR consultant Flora Martin, Ray Perman of Scottish Enterprise and Social Investment Scotland, David Segal of EMAP Public Sector Management and John Ward of Menzies Distribution.

The winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony to be held at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Glasgow on 24 November.

A total of 125 entries were received this year, a figure up 25 per cent from last year’s inaugural competition.
