Forth to broadcast New Year Festivities

Radio Forth has secured a three-year deal to become the exclusive radio partner to Edinburgh’s famous Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations.
Billed as The World’s Best New Year Celebration, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay attracts 100,000 local and international revellers who pack the city centre with Edinburgh Castle as the backdrop to the New Year countdown.
Forth fought off competition to win the three year contract with Edinburgh City Council and have exclusive rights to broadcast the Concert in the Gardens with Forth One as part of the Royal Bank Street Party. The station also has first option to extend the sponsorship contract in 2007.
The Hogmanay concert is held in Princes Street Gardens in the shadow of the castle and is being headlined by Blondie and also features the Scissor Sisters and other top acts.
The partnership deal also allows both Forth One and FORTH2 to broadcast other major events which form Edinburgh’s Winter Festivals, including the Christmas Lights Switch on at The Mound, the Torchlight Procession through the Old Town to Calton Hill and the Night A’fore International street festival.
