The Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail is poised to launch a brand new directory covering Edinburgh, which will be named The One.

The publication, which will launch later this month, will aim to take on market leaders “Thomson Local” and the “Yellow Pages” and is to be supported by a launch campaign created by Glasgow-based advertising agency Coltas.

Media for the advertising campaign is being bought through Edinburgh-based independent Media Vision.

The Edinburgh directory will be the first of seven published throughout Scotland over the next 12 months.

Steve Sampson, director at The Scottish Daily Record & Sunday Mail, said: “The idea is to take on “Yellow Pages” and “Thomson” head-on. That’s the whole thing.

“Directories take millions out of the marketplace every year, and 95 per cent of the people who advertise in them don’t advertise in our papers.”

The launch campaign will be running in newspapers, including the Daily Record and the Sunday Mail, as well as on television in the Edinburgh area.
