Ofcom has officially advertised the new radio licence for Edinburgh, opening the floodgates for bidding companies to register their interest.

Several radio companies have already spoken of their interest in the licence, including Scottish Radio Holdings, Scottish Media Group (for Virgin Radio), Emap (as part of the Castle FM Consortium), GWR and GMG Radio. It is expected that both Chrysalis, Capital Radio and Saga will also submit bids.

A consortium of Edinburgh businesspeople is also bidding for the licence, under the name Red FM.

Ofcom will have received all submissions by 23 September.
