Citigate SMARTS has scored a hat trick by netting the integrated account for Setanta to handle PR, Advertising and Direct Marketing for the new Setanta Sport channel and its SPL Live programme.

Setanta has been the talk of the changing room this season after signing the rights to screen live SPL football. The exclusive four year contract with the Scottish Premier League (SPL) will see Setanta broadcast 38 live SPL football games each season on Setanta Sport, kicking off in August. The channel will be available by subscription only on both Sky and cable in the UK and Ireland.

Citigate SMARTS will handle a campaign to comprise an ongoing PR campaign, Brand Responsive TV, Direct Response Press, Online Advertising, Branding Development and Promotions for Setanta Sport and 'SPL Live'.

Rob Morrice, chief executive of the Citigate SMARTS Group commented: "This is the biggest new account in Scotland for a long time and a significant win in the Scottish agency scene. The concept of integration moves from strength to strength and proved to be a winning formula for the Setanta pitch. It's an exciting time for Scottish football and we are delighted to be picked for the team."

Lesley Alexander, deputy managing director PR for Citigate SMARTS, said: "The media relations campaign will ensure Scottish football fans are informed of the new 'SPL Live' offering and will build the Setanta brand in Scotland. Initally we will be supporting the launch of the domestic subscription hot-line which will go live in June."

Setanta's director of channel development and marketing, Roger Hall, commented: "Securing the rights for live football from the SPL is a major coup and an exciting development within the Setanta business. We believe that Citigate SMARTS is the right team to take this challenge forward."
