VisitScotland is to capitalise on the success of the MTV awards, with the launch of a new advertising campaign, rumoured to be worth around £1m.

The campaign, due to be launched in April, will feature images from the MTV awards with comments from celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé on how vibrant Scotland is, in a drive to attract potential visitors aged between 18 and 30 to the six main cities in Scotland. Adverts will also be placed in national magazines that target the younger generation, such as Loaded and Jack.

The announcement of the campaign follows the news that Iona Thompson, international marketing manager for North America and Asia Pacific, has left the organisation due to personal reasons after only three months in the job.

In addition to this, Dr Lesley Sawyers, strategic communications officer at VisitScotland, has announced that she is leaving to take up the role of chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce from May.
