Texstyle World Home has handed its £750,000 media buying account to MediaCom in Edinburgh without a pitch.

The agency handled the media business three years ago during the company’s former incarnation as Room2, but media buying for the company was most recently handled by Feather Brooksbank.

Mediacom managing director Euan Jarvie commented: “We made an approach and they asked us to show them what we could do and then they said ‘That’s fine.’”

The agency began work on the account at the beginning of the month and is currently planning a significant campaign for later in the year. Creative was unaffected by the appointment, and remains with Zoom.

MediaCom has also been appointed to the interim media buying account for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. The SNBTS is currently engaged in a review of its media and creative accounts and MediaCom will handle the media buying until an appointment is made. Creative is being handled on a freelance basis by Pete Armstrong and Tom Richards, former senior creatives at the now defunct Faulds Advertising, the agency which previously handled the account.

Pitches for both the creative and media accounts were being seen as The Drum went to press, with a decision expected in the coming weeks.
