Ofcom has recruited the first members of its Advisory Committee for Scotland, as the newly installed regulator establishes its presence North of the border.

The Committee will provide Ofcom with advice on the interests and opinions of the Scottish population, and will meet quarterly. The first meeting is to be held on 25 March in Glasgow.

The eight appointments are: Peter Black, former board member of NTL, James Hunter, chairman of Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Fiona McLeod of East Dunbartonshire Council for Voluntary Services, independent telecoms consultant Andrew Muir, PR consultant and former Radio Authority board member Thomas Prag, Selma Rahman of Equal Futures, Philip Schlesinger, who is professor of film and media studies at the University of Stirling, and Joyce Taylor, a non-executive director of Mersey Television.

The committee meetings will be chaired by Ofcom’s Scotland director when they are appointed.
