Angela Casey, MD of Porter Novelli Scotland, has been named as the new chairman of the Scottish Public Relations Consultants Association (SPRCA).

In her role as chair Casey will be responsible for overseeing all of the organisation’s activities, which include training and networking events. The SPRCA will also be organising a number of informal dinners with business people.

Casey has been with the Porter Novelli Group since 1991, when she joined the group’s London-based lobbying company GPC. Since then she has spent time in Brussels before returning to the UK and the Scottish office of Porter Novelli in 1997.

The appointment comes as the consultancy is recruited to handle the UK public relations for VisitScotland’s Business Tourism Unit. Casey will head the account team, which will be split between the consultancy’s Edinburgh and London offices.

Formerly the Scottish Convention Bureau, the BTU was relaunched last year with an increased focus on marketing, under the banner Scotland Means Business.
