Former Faulds account director John MacDougall has been appointed by Citigate Smarts in a joint venture with sister agency Citigate Albert Frank to maximise the Edinburgh-based ad agency’s potential in the financial and corporate sectors.

MacDougall, who joined the agency earlier this month as account director, will initially be tasked with working with Scottish Widows, and regional chief executive of the Incepta Group, Rob Morrice, believes that the partnership could, in time, maximise their potential within both the financial and corporate sectors.

Commenting on the move, Morrice said that the step was a positive move for both agencies: “We put this in place as we wanted to really go after the larger financial and corporate clients that are in Scotland, as we know that the vast majority of our experience is not in this field. Talent like John’s very rarely comes on to the market and we decided, after speaking to him, that we would give it a go. John will be working primarily in Edinburgh, although I am sure that there will be occasions that will take him down to London. More often than not, I think that people from London will come up here to work on projects.”

He added: “We see this as a very important step for the company and hope that we will reap the rewards from the sectors that we are aiming at.”
