Happy families: the Family team.

Family is to open two new divisions as part of an expansion plan that sees two former directors of the now defunct Faulds join the company as MD Ian Wright looks to grow the business strategically.

The Edinburgh-based agency will open a new brand division specialising in digital and new media, to be headed up by James Oliver, along with a research and planning unit to be called Mindshift, which will be run by Ben Leonard.

Oliver, who co-founded website lastorders.com, was for the last eighteen months new media director at Faulds and will be joined by two other ex-Faulds colleagues – Anna Stewart and Ben Cook. The team aims to offer a wide range of services including web building, search engine optimisation, text campaigns and database marketing.

The newly founded planning section of the agency will offer clients a full planning service from strategy development to qualitative and quantitative research.

Commenting on the new developments, agency boss Ian Wright said: “This is a very exciting time for Family, and means that the agency can be thought of more as an integrated consultancy, which will not only benefit the agency as a whole, but also all of our clients. We recognise that the way for Family is to become a fully integrated agency that can service clients in a variety of ways, from a thirty-second team to interactive television and SMS campaigns. The appointments we have made mean that we can offer our clients far more than we have been able to in the past, and means that in the past 15 months since we launched the agency our staff numbers have grown from 4 to 18.”

Wright added that Leonard and Oliver had brought some clients from Faulds, but refused to comment on specifcs. He did, however, add that the company had recently won three undisclosed clients, who will be revealed at a later date.
