The Scottish Executive has invited Scottish IPA members to give its views on the procurement options they should consider.

This is the first time the ad industry has been approached by the Executive in this way. The move also sees the Executive consider widening its external marketing net as it looks to capitalise on a number of new technologies, including mobile phones and other new marketing platforms.

The 20 agencies that make up the Scottish IPA will now be invited to submit proposals on how to make the process more transparent and open. Says Ian McAteer, chairman of the Scottish IPA: “This is a demonstration of the Executive’s commitment to open and accessible government. The Scottish IPA has a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area and is happy to offer guidance. We are currently canvassing our membership to come up with a set of guidance notes for the Scottish Executive and will be forwarding the information by the end of the month.”
