Gallagher: set to put his Scottish knowledge to good use at Newsquest.

Kevin Gallagher, former group development manager of Scottish & Universal Newspapers and current business development manager at Newsquest Media Sales in Manchester, is to take over responsibility for provincial ad sales for the Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times, after the sales contract was moved in-house by Newsquest.

Just four months after the three newspaper titles officially became part of the Newsquest publishing group, the ad sales contract is being moved out of Clacksons Manchester and into the group’s sales house, Newsquest Media Sales in Manchester.

Gallagher, who joined NMS in October 2002, will now head up national sales outside London for the Scottish titles.

Lisa Bourne, MD of Newsquest Media Sales, said: “Kevin’s knowledge of the Scottish marketplace is second to none, as he has worked within Scotland for the last ten years on titles ranging from the Daily Record, Scottish Express, Sunday Express and regional titles.”

Clacksons will continue to work with the Herald titles offering the London package. James Varcoe, London and regional sales manager, says: “Clackson has provided an excellent service for the Herald and Times. However, NMS offer the opportunity to be part of a larger offering, one that focuses on the development of new business and meets our ambitions for the group. It’s a natural fit.”
