Des Hudson, former chief executive of Scottish Media Group’s publishing division, has been named as the next chief executive of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants.

Hudson joined the ACCA on Monday 7 July and will take up the post of chief executive on 1 October.

Prior to his role at Scottish Media Group, Hudson worked in the financial services sector. During a decade-long tour-of-duty he held senior positions at both the Britannia Building Society and Britannia Life.

Hudson received a controversial £500, 000 ‘golden handshake’ from Scottish Media Group following the sale of the Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times to Gannett.
