MindShare is thought to have secured the £42m media planning and buying brief for the Argos and Homebase brands, which belong to parent Great Universal Stores.

It is believed MindShare has won most of the £21m Homebase account, with incumbent PHD keeping grasp of a small part of the brief.

Carat and MediaCom also pitched for the account, which was put up for review in early May after GUS acquired Homebase from Sainsbury\'s.

MindShare was already holding the Argos account before its review and was able to retain its hold. Both brands are housed in Argos Reatil Group, a subsidiary of GUS.

The account wins are in keeping with the current state of play at MindShare, which won the media planning and buying account for Nestle and were able to pick up the £30m Abbey National account from incumbent Carat.
