The ESPC property shop

Northcross has completed the refurbishment of Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre’s (ESPC) flagship property shop in George Street. Following a four-way pitch last year, the agency was appointed by ESPC (UK) and began work in November. The aim of the client was to redefine the image of the property centre, which handles around 90 per cent of houses and flats marketed in the Edinburgh area. The brief called for a barrier-free solution, providing front-to-rear sight lines and the opening out of the interior to the streetscape. Accessibility to its property selection was essential, as was the rationalisation of its consultation areas, financial services department and in-house café. The design required major structural change, particularly to the entrance in what is a World Heritage Site.
