Gibson: tasked with making ScS furniture number one.

In its mission to become the UK’s top furniture retailer, ScS has strengthened its in-house marketing team with the creation of a new marketing manager’s role.

To fill the post, ScS has raided its own advertising agency’s account management team by appointing former Robson Brown account manager Deborah Gibson.

During her time at Robson Brown, Gibson implemented a number of major national marketing campaigns for the retailer. She also has eight years’ experience of working in London in advertising and marketing.

At ScS Gibson will take overall responsibility for all national marketing activity as well as overseeing the in-house marketing department.

ScS now has 55 stores across the UK and employs more than 900 staff. Despite the tough economics of last year, the company reported record preliminary results, with a turnover of £97.8m.

Speaking of her appointment, Gibson says: “My main objective will be to further establish ScS on a national level through various media campaigns, working with our advertising and PR agencies and, of course, the face of ScS, Denise Welch.”

The reason for appointing Gibson, according to ScS chief executive David Knight, was because of her vast agency experience and also because of the understanding of the brand, which she has gained during the two years she has handled it at Robson Brown.
