New island title to rival Gazette
A new weekly title, which aims to rival the Stornoway Gazette, has been launched.
The Stornoway-based Hebridean will be edited by Peter Urpeth, former editor of the Gazette.
Stewart Groundsell will join the team to design the paper, having previously worked for a variety of London-based publications, including the Independent and GQ.
Four local businessmen, including BBC Gaelic broadcaster Kenny MacIver, who was also a former editor of the Stornoway Gazette, are to finance the new weekly paper.
