DIY chain Focus Wickes has moved its PR account into Manchester-based Communique, following a review.

Focus Wickes owns two chains of DIY stores, branded separately as Focus and Wickes. The Focus stores are aimed at “light” DIY enthusiasts while the Wickes chain is targeted at more serious DIY customers and professionals. Communique is to dedicate a ten-strong team to raising the profile of both brands within their respective target markets. The upcoming campaign will consist of both a push to consumers to increase footfall in Focus and Wickes stores and a corporate programme, which will be conceived in association with City PR specialist Hudson Sandler.

Anthea Fosti, group public relations controller for Focus Wickes, said: “We want this relationship to be a real team approach; synergy between the two parties was critical to the appointment. Communique demonstrated knowledge of the relevant category sectors, and a strong media contact base in both the consumer and corporate press.”
