Tim Marsden, marketing director at MyTravel, has confirmed that Clear Marketing has been re-appointed to its advertising account, whilst also stating that the current rebranding of the Going Places outlets has now been put on hold.

Rochdale-based Airtours plc began undertaking a huge rebranding to MyTravel last year, with their 750 Going Places outlets due to assume the name over the course of 2002/03. However, it appears as though the current financial standing of the company has scuppered these plans, causing them to retain the Going Places brand.

Talking about the developments at the group, Marsden said, “We have 90 per cent awareness of the Going Places brand, so it makes sense to leave it that way.”

“We are in the process of rebadging the 150 or so stores already rebranded as MyTravel back to Going Places, and by the time we enter the peak trading period of January we’ll have rebadged around 140.”

“It would perhaps be accurate to say we’ve delayed the initial rebranding. We simply do not have the money at the moment, given the current business situation.”

He added that it “made sense to stick with Clear”, given their past experience with Going Places.
