Channel 6, the Dundee-based local music and video television channel, is heading into liquidation after running out of funds.

Channel 6 chairman, Dave Rushton, who established the company in May 2001, has written to shareholders and creditors to inform them that a liquidator will be announced at a meeting later this month.

In a statement, Rushton said: “The people of Dundee have shown just how popular local services can be. In spite of the company’s difficulties, directors, staff and volunteers would all like to see the services develop.”

However, Rushton was disappointed to say that Channel 6 Broadcasting had been unable to secure the investment needed to sustain and expand the Dundee service.
