Job Description

The Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS) is a third sector organisation promoting positive outcomes for the people who use Scotland’s social services. Our focus is on supporting the social services workforce to create positive change through research, creativity and innovation. We work through three inter-connected programmes: Evidence-informed Practice, Innovation and Improvement and Knowledge Media. Examples of our work can be found at www.iriss.org.uk.

We are currently seeking a Project Manager who has experience of delivering in the public sector and has skills in co-design methods to work in our Innovation and Improvement team. We are looking for a self-starter with a passion for using their design skills to improve the way people access support. You will work on a number of projects and will be expected to manage your time across these projects.

Statement of purpose
As Project Manager, Innovation and Improvement you will work in partnership with IRISS staff and stakeholders to develop, design and deliver frameworks, tools and techniques to promote and embed innovation and service improvement with support providers across Scotland. It is a creative role that requires you to generate ideas, organise and support activities, employ new approaches to project delivery and engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Accountability
The Project Manager is accountable to the Director of IRISS and will be line-managed by the Programme Manager (Innovation and Improvement).

Contract
This is a full-time contract for two years with the possibility that it may be extended. It is based in Glasgow at Brunswick House, 51 Wilson Street, Glasgow G1 1UZ. Placing on the salary scale will be according to qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, implementation and review of IRISS’s programme of work to promote innovation and improvement in Scotland’s social services
• Design and delivery of project activities that will enable engagement with a range of stakeholders to design new or improved models of support
• Facilitate stakeholders to collaboratively design outcomes and activities
• Embedding service design as an approach across the programme
• Contribute to the development, implementation and review of the annual business plan for IRISS.
• Contribute to the development of effective working relationships and ongoing management processes for projects.
• Contribute to defining the deliverables, resource requirements and work plans for projects.
• Contribute to ensuring that project deliverables meet any required quality standards.
• Work effectively and accountably within the project team assigned to a project.
• Conduct project presentations, compile reports, and maintain required project documentation.
• Maintain effective working relationships and clear communication with project stakeholders (internal and external).
• Represent and promote IRISS at relevant meetings and conferences.
