Job Description

A national education and skills provider are seeking an Internal Communications Manager to facilitate their cross-business communications, ensuring appropriate handling of high profile and highly confidential material. The main purpose of the role is to design and deliver communication events, which ensure consistency of message to all target audiences.

The post holder will:

• Play a key role in developing appropriate communications for major projects and programmes, ensuring pace and detail of communications is pitched to achieve the desirable and measurable impact across the business
• Measure and evaluate events to continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency of activity in achieving business targets
• Manage budget for internal communications, with a focus on value for money and a clear return against investment
• Lead the development of an annual plan of internal communications activities, formulate and recommend communications and events strategy that ensures delivery of appropriate communications to target audiences, building engagement and advocacy amongst employees
• Develop and maintain internal communications expertise within the team and across the company, building relationships with key stakeholders and supporting employees and managers in the delivery of communications
• Identify, utilise and maintain expertise in latest techniques and technologies to support effective internal communications
• Edit and distribute regular bulletins and other company updates
• Support external communications activity for the business
• Working with the wider sales & marketing team to ensure internal communications activity dovetails with external activity

To apply for the role you must have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

• Substantial experience of handling media enquiries, including from the national press
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to express complex ideas in everyday language
• Editing skills, tailoring copy written by others for specific audiences, including the generation of web copy
• Project management
• Good working knowledge of the role of web channels in internal and external communication
• Understanding of the business’s operating environment and business drivers
• Strong influencing skills
• Proven track record of developing and delivering effective internal communications
• Experience of online media channels and website development
