Denholm’s client, a leading food company, is seeking a Category Executive for this new, exciting role within their Category & Insight team. Reporting to the Category Manager and working closely with the Product Development and Sales teams, you will assist with developing actionable category strategies and trade plans to deliver profitable category growth for the company across both brands and retailer brands. You will also be responsible for the clear communication of the Category plans, ensuring all requirements for implementation are understood, and for tracking the performance of the principal initiatives within the category.
The Category Executive will also be required to work with the Sales Team across one or two retail accounts to drive the category agenda, and to support the Category Managers and Head of Insight with the regular updating of key documents. Visiting stores to keep up to date with the latest activity in the market is a regular requirement of the role so you must possess a full, clean driving license.
In order to succeed in this role, you will be qualified to degree level, with up to 3 years’ experience ideally gained in an FMCG customer marketing, category management or shopper marketing/insight role. However, our client would also consider candidates currently in a National Account Executive role who are keen to develop a career in a more category/shopper insight based position.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, pro-active and articulate individual, with the ability to build effective working relationships across functions. You will also possess excellent analytical and organisation/planning skills. Teamwork is a critical part of this role, so you need to be prepared to support other team members when necessary.
