Purpose of role:
To control and manage the NPD Process from Design Brief to In-store Launch on behalf of Client BD’s for
all Core packaging activity. Ensuring key stakeholders are involved at the right time, deliver the necessary
inputs and are fully informed and updated of project milestones in conjunction with the Sun Branding Odin
system.
Accountabilities - What you need to be able to do
Effective Project Management – Ability to plan and fully understand workload on a short-medium-long term basis. Understand and follow agreed NPD processes. Pre-empt issues through effective planning.
Category Management (packaging) – Fully understand the clients trading categories and annual activity plan and be able to plan workload accordingly. Earn the right to attend category planning sessions and take learning’s from these to ensure smooth running of projects and understand client priorities even further.
Represent the Sun Branding Solutions brand – Promote SBS and all its brands. Demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Manage Creative process – Ability to take a brief from the clients Buying Directors and translate into full creative brief for use within design agency. Assess incoming concepts ensuring creative brief is met, interface with client BD and design agency across all creative stage’s to design frozen.
Manage Key Stakeholders – Identify training requirements for new suppliers and coordinate training through SBS/SBT in advance of supplier requirement to use Sun Branding ODIN system. Ensure all key stakeholders are advised of project through use of Sun Branding ODIN system.
Demonstrate technical knowledge – Understanding in all major printing processes and reprographics e.g. colour management.
Provide solutions to uphold the Client Brand values from "concept to print" raising the standard of printed packaging quality whilst maximising opportunities to reduce costs to the client.
Manage ODIN system – Ability to build projects and skus on ODIN. Ensure data integrity for all projects. Deliver status reports from the system to key Aldi stakeholders.
Relationship Management – Develop effective relationships across the clients buying directors/Buying assistants, external suppliers, manufacturers and printers. Ensure regular proactive updates whenever necessary and against agreed schedule.
Key Client Meetings – Attend Design Brief Meetings. Arrange, chair and manage all pre artwork meetings specific to SBS and Post Launch reviews without fail on all launches.
Key tasks
Form part of the clients product tender process.
Ensure all stakeholder agencies are fully aware of their requirements within the Odin system, critical path completion at the correct stage, file naming convention and file transferral protocol.
Control costs at all times, ensuring all estimate approvals are received and communicated prior to commission of any work.
Manage all stages of design, facilitating approval throughout with Buying Director or Buying Assistant as laid out in the clients RACI doc
Manage all key stake holder agencies throughout the life of the project ensuring they are fully aware of their key milestones and specific requirements.
Ensure supply of right first time, on-time inputs form all key stakeholders by design lock down stage to facilitate smooth project handover to Account Manager.
Use Technical personal knowledge and that of the lead graphics agency to manage the expectations of clients BD’s from design concept to final printed packaging. Liaise with graphics Account Manager & suppliers to ensure chosen design is achievable through nominated printer.
Control and manage the information flow between all stakeholder agencies and key client contacts ensuring process milestones are met. This should be done in line with project interaction document.
Manage incoming artwork, repro and contract proofs through to approval on the Odin system, obtaining necessary client approvals as required.
Control and manage all stakeholder agencies, measure this in line with the client’s KPI framework document
Escalate issues and sticking points to key client stakeholders.
Deliver status tracking reports to client team.
