Big win for Big PR

Big PR, the newly-launched specialist division of Big Communications, has had a flying start to the year, having been appointed by Walker & Son to handle all national consumer and trade PR support for its award-winning range of hot and cold pies.
Walker & Son was founded in Leicester in 1824 by Mark Walker, with the opening of a butcher’s shop and soon become famous for its distinctive pork pie. Walker & Son was acquired by Samworth Brothers in 1986, and now supplies all the major supermarkets including Tesco, Waitrose, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys.
As part of their new appointment, Big PR will be providing a national press office service, helping to support new product launches and range extensions as well as developing more proactive trade and social media PR programmes.
Big PR will also be working closely with Walkers to launch a series of new national campaigns during 2012, building on the brand’s heritage and targeting a new generation of pie lovers.
Claire Handley, category manager at Walker & Son, said of the appointment “The team at Big presented us with some very innovative and exciting ideas that will really help support the company’s ambitious growth plans.”
Big PR director, Tim Gearey, added, “This is an important win for the Big PR team – we are thrilled to be working with Walker & Son”.
